The accordion and most other keyboard instruments are designed to play all of the elements of music at the same time.  We can easily become overwhelmed by what, or how, to play in a manner that will complement a vocalist or "lead" instrument.  As beginners, we learned to play a simple melody with the right hand, while adding an "oom pah pah" or "oom chunk" accompaniment with the left hand.  As mature musicians we naturally follow our early training or perception of  how one should play properly.  However, there is no way we can do the same thing as the "lead"and be supportive.  "We have a whole band in our arms", as my teacher Carlos Santucci one said.  Now we must figure out what to do with it.  This presentation includes thirty musical examples with CD, and accompanying text to help define our role as accompanists.
